Tips for Remembering Halloween
Make sure you capture your Halloween experiences.
Remembering Halloween
Halloween comes and goes but once a year. People invest time and money every year in costumes, candy, decorations, and parties. But not long down the road those Halloween memories fade and not much is remembered. How many people off the top of their heads can remember exactly what they wore and exactly what they did for Halloween 4 years ago? With so much invested in Halloween every year, shouldn’t we remember what we did?
There are a few things that a person can and should do every year to be able to retain fond memories of their Halloween experience. I have very few memories of my Halloween experiences as a kid and remember nothing at all about my first Halloweens. Let’s talk about a few ideas to successfully document your Halloween this year to avoid such a tragedy in your life.
Taking pictures is a must.
If you haven’t invested in a digital camera yet, it’s
time. It saves the hassle of buying a developing film
and you will quickly save more money on development than
the cost of your camera. It will also enable you to easily
upload your Halloween adventure to myspace or facebook
so everyone can see how much fun you had. There are certain
things that one should take pictures of every year. The first being
costumes. You spent money on it. You’re proud of it! Shouldn’t you
dress up and take some pictures? It’s also Very important to take
pictures of the kids (if you have any). Babies are even more important.
Since they’ll have no memory of the cute little dinosaur costume
you dressed them up in, it’ll be vital to have pictures for them
when they get a little older.
Writing the experience down afterwards is also a great idea. It’s easy and only takes a few minutes. Write about your favorite moments of the night. To be creative you could use orange paper with a black marker. Make sure to write the year down so you don’t get mixed up later. Writing your memories down is a sure way to make sure you won’t forget good times, of which we usually need to remember!
A
fun idea for kids is to make a scrapbook. The morning
after Halloween, you can spend some quality time with
them and make and entire volume about everything that happened! Scrap
books are easy and fun. Go to the craft store and let your kids pick
out their own scrapbook. Get some glue sticks and markers and let
them go at it. Of course you should help them out! Some cool things
to put in a Halloween scrapbook are, the pictures taken the night
before (you can instantly print them out with your digital camera!),
autumn leaves from the front yard, Halloween crafts from school,
and a few favorite candy wrappers from the Halloween stock pile.
Use your imagination.
There are countless things to do. Providing your kids with a Halloween scrapbook is a great way to help them remember their adventures and develop a deeper appreciation for Halloween. This is important because Halloween creates a momentary national unity when everyone down nothing but give to everyone else. (Even if it is just candy.)
You’ll be glad you did a few of these things this year. You will appreciate having the opportunity to look back on previous Halloweens and remember all the cool things that you (and your family) did.Check out some great costume ideas.
